About
Project

Climate change is a problem that we face on a global scale and shared by all European and world countries. It is a global threat that cannot be solved by the efforts of a single or a few countries, but can be solved with global cooperative approaches. On the other hand, the European Commission has developed the European Green Deal, a growth strategy and roadmap, in order to achieve the goal of neutral greenhouse gas emissions in Europe in 2050 and to improve the quality of life of current and future generations. It aims to protect and enhance the EU’s natural capital and protect the health and wellbeing of citizens from environmental risks and impacts. The long-term climate-neutral vision is considered as an important call to non-governmental organizations and “especially young people to support the EU to maintain its leadership in the fight against global climate change”. Achieving these goals is possible with the participation of young people, the future of Europe, and therefore it is important to increase the quality of youth work and qualifications of youth workers about the European Green Deal, having sufficient knowledge about climate action and developing the necessary skills in the field of climate action.

One third of the European population (approximately 170 million) is under the age of 30. Young people, who will shape the future of Europe, need to be equipped about climate crisis, which is the biggest challenge of our time. The European Commission’s Youth for Climate Action Initiative will empower young people to seize on the spirit of renewal and regeneration that is encapsulated in the Paris Agreement, and to shape their future together, across borders. The European Union has dedicated youth programmes which create a perfect framework for projects dedicated to climate action. In 2019, millions of students around the world came together to call for decision-makers to take urgent action on the climate crisis.

These inspiring efforts show that young people from around the world need to support their personal and Professional development to encourage them to take on leadership roles. In addition, the European Union has introduced the ‘’Clean energy for all Europeans package’’ in 2019 to help decorbanise EU’s energy systems to support the European Green Deal’s objectives in this regard. With the 2030 Target Plan it is planned by the Commission to reduce greenhouse gas emmission by 55% below 1990 levels by 2030.

Based on the research we conducted before the project, youth workers’ needs have revealed as:

Based on the emergency and importance of Climate Action and the European Green Deal our project aims to help disseminate and support the European Green Deal throughout the EU by equipping 34 youth workers from all over the EU with necessary information, skills and development. Our project targets to increase the information, capacity and skill sets of youth workers active in climate and environmental issues and equip them with necessary information to actively disseminate and support the European Green Deal and Climate Action.

On April 6 – 12, 2023, a training course was held in Brussels with the participation of 34 youth workers from Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, Portugal, Turkey and Spain.

Our network was established following the successful completion of our training course held in Brussels from April 6 – 12, 2023, where 34 dedicated youth workers from Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, Turkey, and Spain came together to learn, share experiences, and build connections. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive space for all climate enthusiasts. Let’s pave the way for positive change together!
